Our Purpose

The Washington State Nepali Community Center (WSNCC) is a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation and promotion of Nepalese culture among the Nepali community in Washington State. Despite being geographically distant from Nepal, community members face challenges in maintaining their cultural identity and connecting with their heritage, exacerbated by factors such as globalization and limited access to resources for cultural expression.

Our project recognizes the importance of cultural preservation in maintaining a sense of identity, belonging, and pride among community members. By providing platforms for cultural expression, storytelling, and artistic exploration, we aim to empower individuals to share their stories and perspectives, fostering a strong sense of cultural identity and belonging. Additionally, cultural activities serve as avenues for social engagement and community building, strengthening social bonds and fostering a supportive network among community members.

As our community population grows, we are witnessing both positive and challenging developments. The personal growth of individuals within our community is encouraging, but many members still struggle to improve their financial and personal circumstances, despite having the necessary qualifications and experience. This is where our organization plays a crucial role.

We have identified several key issues, including the need to enhance financial opportunities for our community members and the goal of establishing the first Nepali community hall in Washington State. Below, we have outlined the specific issues, growth areas, and our strategies for improvement. We welcome any feedback, as it will help us better address the needs of our community.
